Banana-applesauce fruit bars

(gluten & dairy free)

  • 3 mashed bananas
  • 1/3 cup applesauce
  • 2 cups oats (rolled or original)
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 cup raisins or other dried fruit (optional)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350° F (180° C)

Combine all ingredients and mix until everything is thoroughly incorporated.

Pour into an 8 x 8 (or similar size) baking dish that has been coated with cooking spray or greased. Smoothe out the surface with a spatula.

Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool. Cut into squares.

These healthy and satisfying fruit squares are both wheat-gluten and dairy free.

A small number of gluten-intolerant people are also sensitive to oat proteins, so you should know if you have an allergy to oats before making these.

Prep hints:

If you use old-fashioned rolled oats instead of "instant" or "3-minute" oats, you might want to let the mixture set for ten minutes before placing in the oven. This will give the oats time to hydrate more.
